The new TaylorMade Spider ZT Counter Balance features a zero torque design, a byproduct of the putter's directly-bored, CG-centered shaft positioning. Whereas traditional putters are inherently prone to rotating, this perfectly balanced setup keeps the head square to the putter's path throughout the stroke, making it dramatically easier to return the face to square at impact. For golfers, this means a markedly more consistent and accurate starting direction of each putt without requiring a change in your mechanics or stroke. Combine the zero torque design with the Spider's stability-maximizing shape and multi-material construction, which prevents the face from twisting offline on mishits, and TaylorMade's roll-enhancing Pure Roll insert, and the result is a measurable increase in makes and two-putts.
TaylorMade's engineers worked tirelessly to improve accuracy across the board, as evidenced by the ZT's unique sole shaping and new premium alignment system. By accommodating different player types and ball positions, the innovative sole allows all player types to comfortably find a repeatable and consistent stroke. The milled True Path alignment system, developed based on Tour feedback, perfectly frames the ball at the address position, simplifying aim and providing a helpful sweet spot reference point.
The Counter Balanced Spider ZT's longer shaft, heavier head, and longer and heavier grip raise the putter's balance point and position the hands lower on the grip. These elements reduce hand movement and engage the larger muscles, promoting better tempo and a more consistent pendulum stroke.
