For right-handed golfers, the lead hand is the left hand, which is the hand that does a lot of the work in a swing and is responsible for much of the grip. A quality golf glove will provide a better grip, affording you better control over and through the swing, while helping to cut down on the friction that causes blisters.

A good one should be thin enough so that there is no compromise in sensitivity while providing enough traction to improve your grip and control.
